OOC: Alright, open for business! More products will be added to the limited selection over time, the first one up being the MBT-86! Also, forgive the deceptively short description on the TCF-01, click the link (in the name) and you'll be taken to a wikistates article with a more in-depth description and statblock

OOC Note: This is intended to be a limited storefront solely for the purpose of selling weapons to Licanan Allies in the Bohemian Grove. There is to be no resell of weapons bought in this storefront. In all likelihood, once I have finalized all of the products currently under development and being conceptualized, this storefront will be abandoned in favour of one in the GE&T subforum on NationStates.

LDI Armaments
Creating the foundation to build a safer nation

History

Licana Defense Industries started as a joint venture between arms manufacturing giants Mosler Arms and the Volker Weapons Development and Manufacturing Department in 2013. These previous competitors had been silently discussing several joint projects over the past decade, which set the ground for future co-operation. This eventually led to talk of a merge and, after careful consideration and government backing, the two companies joined together to create LDI.

Soon the merging of these two industrial giants, several other smaller weapons development companies quickly joined LDI, and the number of companies making up LDI skyrocketed. In just one month, almost all of the domestic arms manufacturing and development companies were under LDI's umbrella. This gave LDI unprecedented manufacturing capabilities and cooperation between the greatest Licanan minds in weapons development.

Critics have argued that this is a government ploy to attempt nationalization of the arms manufacturing industry, which makes up one of the largest portions of the Licanan economy. Further state that this may take away from competition, since almost all of the development teams are, in some way, working with LDI.

Although these critics bring up usually valid points with conventional monopolies, LDI does foster constructive competition by offering bonuses, based on sales of finished products, to designing teams that create successful products. Additionally, despite claims of possible nationalization, LDI keeps a large portion of its proftis to pursue whatever venture they deem valuable, and only receives small amounts of sporadic government funding.

Rules

 • Do your own Math (I will check, but I'll mostly be relying on your word, I'd rather hate to have to go back on that)
 • All sales are considered Secret In Character. They are open to view in an OOC manner, but ICly only myself and the purchasing nation know the details of any exchange between the two
 • Be able to afford whatever you purchase. You can check on NSEconomy if you don't know your nation's current defense budget. As of yet, we do not have a financial program set up to assist with purchasing, but I may be willing to make another arrangement if I am on good terms with you.
 • Rules are subject to change and additional rules/notices may be added until the storefront itself is fully finalized, try to check the OP fairly regularly.

Mosler AAR: The Mosler Adaptable Assault Rifle (AAR) is one of two standard infantry weapons for the Licanan Military. It is a reliable, fully modular rifle that can be quickly modified to cope with any situation. Designed to replace AR-15 type rifles, it was based heavily off of the design of the ACR. It arose mainly to allow for the same controllable, fully automatic fire as the AR-15 type rifles, but with more adaptability and reliability. So far, it has served with a mixed record, as its lack of power is becoming painfully apparent as more advanced armour becomes more available.

It comes standard with a sighting system (usually either red dot or holographic), but also has back up iron sights in the case the primary sights stop working. It can be quickly taken apart and reconfigured into an almost entirely different rifle using interchangeable parts. The AAR is a favorite of paratroopers because of its light weight and high accuracy.

Statistics: (applies only to standard model AAR)
Loaded Weight: 2.98 kg (6.57 lbs)
Length: 900 mm (35.4 in)
Barrel Length: 368 mm (14.5 in)

Muzzle Velocity: 850 m/s
Feed System: 20/30 round box mag, 100 round drum mag
Effective Range: 550 meters (601.49 yards)
Mosler AAR:

Mosler HBR: The Mosler Heavy Battle Rifle (HBR) is the second standard infantry weapon of the Licanan Military. It was made to fill the roles the AAR could not. The HBR is more reliable than the AAR, and fires a heavier round. However, the HBR is noticeably heavier and has a slower rate of fire. The heavier round has a much higher effective range than the 5.56 used in the AAR, and provides much more kinetic energy on impact with a target. This makes the HBR more suitable for open engagements and as a designated marksman rifle than the AAR.

Statistics:
Loaded Weight: 3.62 kg (7.98 lbs)
Length: 919.48mm (36.2 in)
Width: 82mm (3.23 in)

Effective Range: 775 meters (847.55 yards)

Mosler HBR:
HBR Marksman:

LDI Multi-Purpose Adaptable Rifle (MPAR)

One of the first products of the newly formed Licanan Defense Industries, the Multi-Purpose Adaptable Rifle is designed to bridge the gap between the AAR and HBR rifles. It fires the Licanan 6.8x45mm round, which was designed around the slightly smaller 6.8x43mm (more commonly known as 6.8 SPC). This round provides similar ballistics to the 5.56x45mm NATO round used in the AAR, but with increased stopping power. It is scheduled to fully replace the Mosler AAR in the Licanan military, however, paratroopers may still use the AAR due it its lighter weight.

Overall Length: 863 mm (33.98 in.)
Barrel Length: 406 mm (16 in.)
Loaded Weight: 3.4 kg (7.496 lbs.)
Width: 78 mm (3.07 in.)
Height: 245 mm (9.65 in.)

Cartridge: 6.8x45 mm
Action: Gas Operated Rotating Bolt
Rate of Fire: 700-800 rounds per minute
Selective Fire: Safe, Semi, Auto

Effective Range: 680 meters (2,231 ft.)

MPAR:

SOAR: The Special Operations Assault Rifle is the result of the co-operation between Mosler Arms and Volker Inc. Along with several other arms manufacturing industries. It was designed to be fully modular, compact enough to be suitable for close quarters engagements, but accurate enough for long range engagements. It had to be light weight and functional with a suppressor. The result was the SOAR, manufactured by Mosler Arms (as they had the largest arms manufacturing plants, profits earned by the weapon are split between the various companies based on the contribution given to the design) It has the capability to accept a grenade launcher, however, these grenade launchers are operated by the weapon's trigger. The grenade launcher is activated by the fire selector, below the selection for auto. When the grenade launcher is selected, the main trigger now acts as the firing trigger for the grenade launcher.

Statistics:
Loaded Weight: 3.18 kg (7.0 lb)
Length: 640 mm (25.2 in)
Barrel Length: 380 mm (15.0 in)
Height: 235mm (9.25 in)

Cartridge: 5.56x45mm (7.62x51mm variants are available)
Action: Gas-operated rotating bolt
Selective Fire: Safe, Semi, Auto, Grenade Launcher
Rate of Fire: 800 rounds per minute
Muzzle Velocity: 875 m/s
Effective Range: 600 meters

SOAR:

Volker MP-32:
The Licanan Military's standard sub-machine gun, the MP-32 now sees more action as a police weapon than a military weapon. It was orginally designed in 1986, making it the one of the oldest infantry weapons in active service with the Licanan military. It fires the heavy .45cal round, and has a high rate of fire. It is extremely small, and well suited for room clearing and urban combat. It's firing system can divert the recoil so that it has almost no muzzle climb while firing. However, this system has reliability problems. It has a standard variant, and a suppressed variant with an integrated silencer (shown in picture)

Statistics:
Loaded Weight: 2.3 kg (5 lbs)
Length: 680mm (26.8 in) stock extended; 550 mm (21.7 in) stock collapsed.
Barrel Length: 200 mm (8 in)

Cartridge: .45 ACP (11.43x23mm)
Action: Gas-Delayed Blowback
Selective Fire: Safe, Two round burst, Automatic
Rate of Fire: 750 rounds per minute (800 for the suppressed model)
Muzzle Velocity: 425 m/s
Feed System: 25/30/45 round box mags
Effective range: 50 m (54.68 yards)

MP-32:

Volker CAS

The Volker Combat Assault Shotgun is the standard in close quarters and room clearing Licanan weapons. It is based off of a heavily modified Benelli M3 frame, and takes design elements from the Atchisson Assault Shotgun (or AA-12). The Volker CAS fires all twelve gauge shotgun rounds, and has high reliability. However, as a shotgun, it is limited to strictly close quarters engagements.

Statistics:
Loaded weight: 7.3 kg (with 32 round mag)
Length: 1200mm (47.24 in.)
Barrel Length: 660 mm (25.98 in.)

Cartridge: any 12g round

Muzzle Velocity: 365.75 m/s (1200 ft/s)
Feed System: 8 round box mags, 32 round drum mags
Effective Range: Dependant on type of Ammunition (for buckshot, approx. 25 meters)

Volker CAS:

AMS-80

The two primary sniper rifles of the Licanan Military are the M21 and the Mosler HBR Marksman variant. However, when more range and hitting power is required, the Licana Arms Anti-Material Sniper is the solution. It fires the heavy .50cal BMG (12.7x99mm) round, which can maintain a large amount of kinetic energy for over a mile. It is a heavy weapons system, and is usually operated by a team of two. However, it can be operated by a single man, but this is a difficult task.

Statistics:
Loaded Weight: 14.0 kg (30.9 lbs)
Length: 1450 mm(57 in.)
Barrel Length: 737 mm (29 in.)

Cartridge: .50cal BMG (12.7x99mm)

M551A1 L "Super" Sheridan: The M551A1 L, dubbed "Super" Sheridan is a highly modernized variant of the M551A1 Sheridan light airborne tank. To decrease overall size and weight, the first upgrade to be made was the inclusion of an autoloader. This decreased the overall weight and size enough to make room for other major upgrades. The next on the list of upgrades was the armour. It was one of the single most complained about factors in regards to the tanks.

The Aluminium armour was supplemented by a nanocarbon composite. The composite provided a major boost to protection over Aluminium, while not factoring in a substantial increase in weight, due to the composite's relatively low density. The tank also features a specially designed Titanium mesh framework to support the lighter components of the armour. Although highly expensive, it provides a high level of protection for a still reasonable weight. To further add to protection possibilities, there are modular areas spread over the tank designed to accept n/ERA and even an Active Protection System. However, these systems would increase weight, and could compromise it's airdrop capability. Thus, this equipment was designed primarily to be used in scenarios where it could be airlifted but heavier tanks could not. The "Super" Sheridan is rated against 12.7x99mm rounds against most sections of the vehicle. This is more than enough to protect it's crew from most small arms fire, solving a major problem with the original design.

The tank's suspension system provided yet another problem. The tank had stability issues, due primarily to it's light weight and center of mass. It has even been known to tip over. Although some of these problems were an unavoidable result of the nature of the tank, and the requirements to achieve it's intended goal. However, a substantial increase in stability could be achieved by the replacement of the old torsion bar with an active hydropneumatic suspension. This suspension system greatly increased the tanks stability, and helped to dampen the massive recoil produced from the main gun.

The final upgrade to the tank was it's optics and targeting system upgrade. The old optics and targeting system was highly outdated and inefficient. Further, during the firing of the main cannon, they could become misaligned, or even be outright destroyed. This, of course, was unacceptable for a combat vehicle. So, the entire system was replaced with hardened, modernized optics and targeting sensors, capable of withstanding the force produced from the firing of the main gun. The package gives the tank a full 360 degree FLIR/IR optics, with a maximum/minimum gun elevation of +40/-10 degrees off the horizontal. Integrated into this sight is the capability to "paint" a specific target with an IR beam capable of guiding both GLATGMs and even air-launched precision bombs and missiles. They also provide an increase in combat effectiveness, particularly during night fighting and poor weather/low visibility conditions. The updates allow it to fire more modern GLATGMs, such as the LAHAT, although the MGM-51 can still be used with it's modernized set up. The updated software also allows for complete integration into the Licanan BatNet, increasing situational awareness and combat efficiency further by increasing the amount of available battlefield information to the commander of each tank and allowing them to communicate quickly and efficiently between other units connected to the localized BatNet.

HBT-5 Nova: The Heavy Battle Tank mk.5 "Nova", is the latest MBT developed and in use by the Licanan Military. It was developed in the late 1990s, and has seen limited combat since then. However, the HBT-5 has proven itself to be far superior to the previously used T-80Us. It's 152mm main cannon can shred enemy tanks from miles away, and its slender, low profile allows it to set up well concealed ambushes. The design itself is based loosely from the Black Eagle prototype, but upgraded with more modern Licanan technology. The tank is not without flaws, however. Although there is more space inside of the tank than the T-80, it is still fairly small. Due to this small size, and large caliber main cannon, it severely limits total ammunition loadout. It can be equipped with various add-ons, such as ERA, Ceramic Packs, nERA, mine clearing equipment, and even a Hard-Kill counter-munitions system for added survivability.

The tank was designed almost purely to defend the Volker Plains from invasion. The Volker Plains are a vast expanse of mostly flat territory, very good tank country. The tank mainly uses GLATGMs and HEAT rounds, although it is capable of using APFSDS rounds, it rarely uses them except for when engaging tanks without heavy armour, as they are more cost-efficient in this role. Due to its large caliber main cannon, it can not carry many rounds for it, and thus is tasked with leading forces of other Licanan MBTs such as the T-80U, T-84, and the soon to be MBT-86. Alongside these tanks, the HBT-5 can take out priority targets while the smaller MBTs make up the main brunt of the force. Although battlefield longevity is a problem, when used to lead formations of MBTs, this problem becomes less noticeable.

LDI Provisional Storefront Empty Aerial Vehicles

TCF-01: Easily the most advanced fighter in the Licanan arsenal, the TCF-01 was designed specifically to give the Licanan Navy an advanced carrier-born fighter that can compete with other 5th Gen. fighter aircraft. The result was one of the best preforming fighters to ever serve in the Licanan Military. Their performance was so good, in fact, the the Licanan Airforce personally requested a land-based variant, which is currently in-development.

CFA-38: The CFA-38 is the next generation of Licanan Aircraft, designed to replace the various models of F-35 in service with the Licanan Navy and Air Force. The F-35, although a very versatile airframe, has a high level of observability for a stealth aircraft. This is also combined with a very low payload carrying capability. If one wants to equip the F-35 with a greater amount or range of weapons, they must put them on wing-mounted pylons, further compromising the stealth features of the aircraft.

Due to the shortcomings of the F-35 airframe, The Licanan Armed Forces, especially the Navy, tasked LDI's aeronautical engineering sector to build a more suitable airframe. This airframe would have to be carrier capable, while being able to carry a larger payload than the F-35, and have a comparable or lower RADAR Cross Section. The basic design of the CFA-38 is a blended delta wing-fuselage aircraft, a rarity on most aircraft carriers. This allowed for a substantial increase in the amount of space for internal weapons bays, allowing for a much higher carrying capacity compared to the F-35.

Airframe:

The basic design of the CFA-38 is a twin-tailed, blended delta wing-fuselage aircraft. This basic design generally allows for a substantial increase in the amount of space for internal weapons bays, giving a much higher carrying capacity compared to the F-35. This set up would also decrease wing loading, which generally results in a lower takeoff speed, superior rate of climb, more efficient cruising, and greater sustained turn performance.

The airframe itself is made mostly out of high-strength, lightweight composites. These composites, though expensive, allow for lower natural RADAR returns without compromising the performance of the airframe. Some areas of the airframe that are more prone to high levels of stress, or higher RADAR returns, are made of the same nanocarbon composites that make up a large portion of the TCF-01 stealth fighter. This, in conjunction with a more stealth oriented profile and a light RAM coating, leads to a lower RCS across most RADAR bands when compared to the F-35.

Like most Licanan aircraft, the CFA-38 was designed to have high levels of maneuverability. As such, it was decided very early on that it would have some form of Thrust Vector Control. Most Licanan aircraft have some form of TVC, and no dedicated fighter in the Licanan arsenal lacks this very feature. However, TVC negatively impacts RCS, something that this design can not afford. The negative impact on RCS tends to be from the method of changing the angle at which the thrust is directed in conventional TVC, the engine nozzles moving on the aircraft. However, this problem can be overcome through the use of a Conformal Fluidic Nozzle.

Quick Note: Unlike the example picture provided, it does not use overpass inlets, and uses more conventional inlets similar in type to what you would find on an F-22 or YF-23

Propulsion:

The CFA-38 is equipped with the new TF-38 Afterburning Turbofan. The TF-38 was designed specifically for the CFA-38 airframe to most effectively fulfill the criteria of the aircraft. It utilizes very little moving parts compared to other engines of comparable power output, which decreases overall weight while increasing reliability.

The Conformal Fluidic Nozzle is a system of TVC that uses fluid dynamics and logic to change the angling of thrust though a fixed engine nozzle. This type of TVC has less mass, drag, complexity, and lower production/maintenance costs. This is mainly due to a simpler engine with less moving parts. This form of TVC operates by redirecting bypass air-flow from the engines into several ports nozzles, which inject them into the engine to divert thrust. These nozzles are evenly spaced around the inside of the nozzle and, when working in conjunction, can angle the engine's thrust up to 20 degrees in any direction. The CFN, as previously stated, does not compromise stealth features with moving engine nozzles, but allows for full multiaxial thrust vectoring. Generally, it also has faster and stronger control response compared to conventional TVC methods.

The engines makes use of an S-Shaped Inlet, which cuts down on the RADAR returns from the inlet itself.

Avionics:

The CFA-38 is equipped with the LDI Advanced Solid State Active Array RADAR (ASAR)-12 Low Probability of Intercept, Active Electronically Scanning Array RADAR system. The benefits of an AESA type system are enormous in that they can provide the same, if not, increased tracking capabilities when compared to Passive Electronically Scanning Array RADAR, but also because they are much tougher to track via a RADAR Warning Receiver, and also come with an increased resistance to Electronic Counter Measures such as jamming. This RADAR system can also act as a RADAR receiver, although, it is not as effective as a dedicated RWR.

The ASAR-12 is able to fully integrate to the Licanan Battle Network, and has the capacity to integrate into most other types of BatNets employed by modern militaries. It is capable of transmitting data to other sources, such as a BatNet, through extremely high bandwith data links. This allows for quick, streamlined data sharing between friendly aircraft, ground units, and RADAR installations. With this system in place, the aircraft can quickly send and receive relevant information securely, which allows it to rapidly and efficiently respond to changes in the field. When connected to a BatNet, the combat efficiency of a CFA-38 equipped squadron in almost all scenarios is increased dramatically.

The ASAR-12 can function in a Filtered Low Frequency mode, where it runs primarily on Low Frequency RADAR bands to detect stealth aircraft. The background noise produced by Low Frequency is put through a computerized filtering system that removes the background noise. This filtering system is highly effective, not being designed to be too critical in it's filtering of RADAR returns. Although this decreases the overall clarity of the RADAR system, it ensures that it won't filter out a possible enemy stealth aircraft.

The CFA-38 can also carries a full missile detection system, the LDI Advanced Missile Detection System (AMDS)-93. The AMDS-93 is a multiple component system that includes a fully functional RADAR Warning Receiver and IR/UV Missile Approach Warning System. This system provides vital data in regards to incoming missiles such as distance, vector, and tracking system. This missile detection system can relay this information to the pilot on both an LCD display on the cockpit instrument panel or in a helmet mounted HUD system.

Armament:

The CFA-38, as a multirole strike fighter, had to have the capability to utilize a large variety of weapons systems. As such, the design had to maximize the carrying capacity. Despite being unfriendly to stealth designs, the extra width from the delta wing set up allowed for more room to work with in terms of armament allowance.

The primary armament bay is contained along the center-line of the airframe contains eight pylons in a side-by-side layout. This weapon bay is capable of carrying most forms of missiles and bombs, so long as they aren't particularly heavy or large. Additionally, there are two side weapons bays, each carrying a single pylon, positioned just in front of the center weapons bay, and offset to the sides in a similar fashion the the F-22A Raptor. These weapons bays are fairly small, but mainly used to carry small, light, short-range AAMs. Also contained internally, a single 20mm rotary cannon, hidden underneath a small flap to preserve a low RCS. This trap-door opens up before firing, while the cannon is spooling up, and the cannon only fires when the trap-door is fully opened.

It can also be fitted with up to six wing-mounted pylons for added armament capacity, although this compromises the stealth profile of the airframe. However, this is necessary if the airframe needs to be equipped with heavier weapons, or a larger amount of weapons.

RE: Purchasing CFA-38's For the Royal Air Force

Greetings:

Allow me to introduce myself. I am General Alberto Lombardi, a highly-decorated and respected General in the Roman Army. My current task is to procure foreign-made weapons for His Royal Majesty's Armed Forces. Several weeks ago, the Roman Parliament, in cooperation with The Rt Hon. Prime Minister Giorgio Berlusconi, voted to approve a special budget in order to procure foreign-made weapons for our Armed Forces. I have personally seen (during CFA-38 testing trials in Licana) and heard about the efficiency, durability, and quality of the CFA-38. I believe that its efficiency and modern design would be a perfect fit in the Royal Air Force. It is thus, that I have been tasked with making the CFA-38 the primary fighter aircraft of the Royal Air Force. If it is acceptable, the Roman Department of Defense would like to purchase 5,000 CFA-38's within the next five years. This project is part of the modernization of the Royal Air Force. Full payment of $1.3 Trillion NSD will be sent through an electronic deposit to a designated account at the bank of your choosing once this order has been confirmed. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

General Alberto Lombardi,

The Department of Defense - Office of Procurement

To: General Alberto Lombardi; The Department of Defense of San Pellegrino Romana.
From: Ilya Pasternak; CEO of Licanan Defense Industries, LDI Headquarters
Subject: Purchasing CFA-38's For the Royal Air Force

Dear Alberto Lombardi,

I am glad you have taken an interest in the products designed and produced by Licana Defense Industries. We assure you that the CFA-38 is a top-notch multirole fighter that could handle any reasonable combat scenario. I am confident in it's capabilities as a fighter, and that it will serve the Roman Royal Air Force well during its service.

To ease maintenance, costs of repair, and logistical strain, the purchase of the CFA-38 will include the domestic production rights to all components and standard weapons systems utilized by the CFA-38. As the CFA-38 is a highly advanced piece of military hardware, by purchasing the CFA-38, The United Kingdom of San Pellegrino Romana understand and agrees to the terms that there will be no resale of the CFA-38, any of it's components, or knowledge regarding it's design or components, to any foreign entities under any circumstances.

Due to the positive relationship The United Kingdom of San Pellegrino Romana has shared with The Republic of Licana, the first thousand aircraft will be provided to the Roman Royal Air Force free of charge. This would bring the total price of your order to 1.04 Trillion USD. Order shall be confirmed and transport of relevant material will commence once the payment to LDI banking accounts has been verified.

We thank you for your purchase, and hope that you are satisfied with the quality and performance of the products provided LDI.

Sincerely Yours,
LDI Provisional Storefront Ceoldisignature
